The Summer Olympic Games are back this year, with France hosting it in its capital city of Paris for the third time. Beloved Olympic sports such as swimming, gymnastics, track and field, football and basketball are all set to take center stage with the festivities beginning on July 26 and concluding on August 11. Per usual, brands are gearing up for this momentous event and Nike Basketball, led by a LeBron James who is eager to secure another gold medal, is sure to have plenty of releases on the way.
As we await reveals of the collections to come, a first look at a familiar Olympics-themed sneaker has surfaced. The Nike Kobe 4 Protro “Gold Medal” is returning to shelves after initially dropping in 2009. A one image preview of the shoe has been shared, indicating that the sneaker will stay true to its original white, blue, red and gold presentation.
At the time of writing, Nike Basketball has not confirmed any details surrounding the return of the Kobe 4 Protro “Gold Medal.” Stay tuned for updates as it’s currently expected to release on August 5 — five days before the men’s basketball gold medal game at the 2024 Summer Olympics — via Nike SNKRS and select retailers at a starting price of $190 USD.
