Update: With two successful releases having taken place so far, the adidas AE1 is quickly emerging as a winner for the Three Stripes. As Anthony Edwards and adidas continue to make noise, we now have a better look at the “Best of Adi” colorway that takes inspiration from the “Stormtrooper” looks of the past. This black and white composition is set to release on March 1 via adidas and select retailers at a price of $120 USD. For more info about the design, be sure to check out our initial coverage below.
Original Story: As Anthony Edwards continues to cement himself as the future of the Minnesota Timberwolves, he’s hoping to accomplish a similar feat with adidas Basketball. At the end of 2023, the young star had his first signature shoe with adidas — the adidas AE1 — revealed in three colorways. Now, following the successful release of his debut “With Love” pair, one of the other three is preparing to launch — the familiar “Stormtrooper” look.
While adidas has officially collaborated with Star Wars for “Stormtrooper”-themed footwear in the past, this pair draws inspiration from the late Kobe Bryant’s adidas Crazy 1 “Stormtrooper.” In a presentation reminiscent of its predecessor, the adidas AE1 “Stormtrooper” starts with its textured TPU overlay in white while black serves up ample contrast at the collar. Looking to the heel, the Three Stripes logo utilizes a neon green finish to complete the pair.
adidas Basketball has yet to share its release plans for this “Stormtrooper” colorway of Anthony Edwards’ AE1. However, based on its inclusion in the shoe’s announcement imagery, you can expect it to arrive in the coming months via adidas and select retailers at a price of $120 USD. Stay tuned for updates regarding this pair and additional colorways to come as Edwards’ new silhouette continues to make noise in the world of basketball footwear.
