Merrell 1TRL has just unveiled its latest installment for Spring/Summer 2024 — and it’s exploring the next generation of the Hydro Moc and Mule family with a design inspired by the paths explorers gross by land and water.
Since its first iteration, the Hydro Moc and Mule has been characterized by a design that emulates the water flow around and over rocks; a place where you find erosion, paths, and the natural phenomenon that demonstrates the principle of not being able to control nature.
The Hydro Moc Next Gen marks a new chapter in the Hydro Moc family with an updated, design-led construction that emphasizes performance integrity. Defined by comfort and simplicity, it features a super-resilient, water-friendly EVA foam cage upper inspired by water flowing around rocks. For the Hydro Moc Next Gen Mule, the silhouette features the same construction of the Hydro Moc family, with its slip-on access complemented by a sticky rubber outsole with durable traction.
The end result of the shoes is a design that’s representative of nature’s visceral paths, with a slew of future-facing design queues integrated to allow the shoe to be wearable across a slew of terrains, from slippery rocks to uneasy paths. Designed with sticky traction outsoles, the silhouettes are optimized for all-weather comfort, combining the breathability of a clog and the responsiveness of a sneaker.
