Dutch footwear brand Mercer Amsterdam has dropped its newest reimagining of Re-Run sneakers. After introducing the Re-Run Pineapple in 2022, the label continues to explore other sustainable plant-based materials that could become another new alternative to leather.

As suggested in its name, the new Re-Run Cactus is crafted from a Cactus “leather” developed by Desserto. Soft-to-touch, cruelty-free and highly sustainable, the material is PETA-approved and is also partially biodegradable.

The new drop features two models crafted from this refreshing fabrication: the Re-Run and the Re-Run Max in Spft White/Cactus Green and Soft White/Cocoa Brown colorways. Differciated by the sole design and stack, both silhouettes are outfitted with uppers composed of 40% cactus, 60% bio PU with 100% cotton-infused cactus. The rest of the sneaker, from mesh, insole, outsole, and lining to laces are all made from recycled bio-based materials, following through with the brand’s sustainable ethos.

The Re-Run retails for €169 EUR (around $183 USD), while the Re-Run Max is priced at €179 EUR (approximately $195 USD). Both models are now available to shop at Mercer Amsterdam’s online shop or via its Clubhouse retail space in Amsterdam.
