7’4″ French phenom Victor Wembanyama has lived up to the near insurmountable hype set ahead of his rookie season in the NBA. Averaging a double-double on 21.2 points per game, Wembanyama has made a statement this season, and despite his team’s lackluster 18-57 record currently, the league has its eyes on him as a generational talent. Recognizing this, Nike, since signing Wembanyama last year as part of its NBA rookie class for 2023, has treated the rising star to plenty of special gear, including several custom colorways of his on court kicks of choice — the GT Hustle 2.
Revealed during All-Star Weekend this year, where Wembanyama participated in the KIA Skills Challenge, an “Alien” colorway of the GT Hustle 2 was worn by the San Antonio Spurs star. Tapping into the theme of Wembanyama being an alien with his unprecedented height and athleticism, the mostly black pair is accompanied by a galaxy pattern in green at the mudguard, heel and collar. Its Swooshes appear in a metallic black, matching the heel’s alien motif that also appears at the sockliner in green. From there, a semi-translucent glow-in-the-dark outsole is included with “Be Unique Every Day” text ensuring that the sole supports the wearer both physically and mentally.
At the time of writing, Nike Basketball has not announced when this “Alien” colorway for Victor Wembanyama will be made available to the public. Stay tuned as it’s likely to land on shelves via Nike and select retailers at a starting price of $170 USD sometime in the coming weeks as the 2023-24 NBA regular season wraps up.
