After a tumultuous (to put it lightly) 2024, Drake needs any kind of wins — and not of the Anita Max variety — that he can get in 2025. Thankfully, the year is starting off on a high note footwear-wise for The Boy, with the reveal of a NOCTA x Nike Air Force 1 Low “Pink Foam” in recent days, and now, a look at two look-see OVO x Air Jordan 9 samples.
OVO and Jordan Brand‘s working relationship ran from 2015 to 2019, and the pair partnered up for several retail releases (takes on the Air Jordan 12, Air Jordan 10 and Air Jordan 8 to name a few) as well as a swath of samples, PEs and unreleased styles, almost all of which made use of OVO’s stately black, white and gold color scheme. This duo of Air Jordan 9s were sample colorways that never saw a retail release (“look-see” samples are prototypes created to visualize and evaluate the look of a silhouette before mass production, and the final retail release can differ from its “look-see” samples), but are very close to the other OVO releases of the era in material and color scheme.
The white pair boasts a high-gloss leather construction and is adorned with gold accents on its tongue badge, insole and translucent outsole, while the black pair opts for a more muted look with matte leather, an opaque outsole and branded hits split between gold and black. The key detail on both pairs arrives via the aforementioned tongue tag, which swaps out its standard Air Jordan branding for an October’s Very Own text hit.
Although neither of these takes on Michael Jordan‘s ninth signature sneaker will see a retail release, you can check them out in detail above and check out our Weekly Footwear Drops roundup to stay up to speed on all the latest and greatest releases.
