Update: It’s been many months since the Nike Dunk Low “Veneer” was said to be making a return this year. Now, we finally have confirmation as to when the 2001 colorway is set to hit shelves once again, as it’s now said to be releasing on April 11 via Nike SNKRS and select retailers at a starting price of $115 USD. For more info about the pair, be sure to review our initial breakdown below.
Original Story: The Nike Dunk Low “Veneer,” a pair first released in 2001 as part of the CO.JP “Ugly Duckling Pack” is set to make a return in the summer of 2024.
Previously exclusive to Japan, the entire pack was actually rereleased in stages throughout 2020, with the “Plum” colorway being the first, followed by the “Veneer” and “Ceramic” colorways — whether or not this third visit means an entire Ugly Duckling relaunch is yet to be seen.
Nonetheless, the return seems incredibly well received, with the retro staying true to its roots with the only immediate difference perhaps being slightly darker tones, probably just due to updated materials.
Featured colors include Veneer, Deep Purple, and Autumn Green, with the upper primarily being made of pigskin suede, layered in Brown, Green, and Purple tones. One subtle difference that can be seen compared to the original pack, is a slightly more modern mesh tongue that features a lace hold in the middle.
All this retro flavor sits perfectly on top of a White midsole and Violet rubber outsole. While an official date has not yet been shared, the pair is expected to launch in the Summer of 2024 with a retail price of $115 USD on Nike‘s official site and at select retailers.
