Takashi Murakami has officially lifted the curtains to Ohana Hatake, his newest creative venture and first-of-its-kind footwear brand. Serving as a new chapter that evolved from Murakami’s iconic flower motifs, the brand’s name is also borrowed from the Japanese words for “field of flowers.”
Throughout the year, the project has been teased through three limited-edition releases, one of which was the Ohana Full-Bloom slides that were launched as a collaboration with BLACKPINK. Now, Ohana Hatake’s inauguration is officially marked with two original silhouettes, which include new colorways for the Ohana Full-Bloom as well as a brand new model named Surippa Ohana — all created in collaboration with footwear experts at VIOLET ST.
The new Ohana Full-Bloom slides are revealed in two refreshing colorways, coming in “Apricot” and “Raspberry Rose,” both available via a raffle on the brand’s official website. Meanwhile, the first iteration of Surippa Ohana is set to be unveiled later on in a colorway called “Rust.”
On the topic of the Ohana Hatake’s launch, Takashi Murakami said, “I am pursuing an expression that explores the very relationship between American and Japanese cultures. I would love it if those who wear these sandals could sense how this team managed to craft something wonderful out of my quirky, off-the-mark ideas.”
