When it debuted in 2011, the Salomon Speedcross 3 quickly found favor among off-road runners thanks to its long-lasting tread, airy cushioning and ability to handle even the most rocky uphill or downhill runs, all features born of Salomon‘s overarching “Fast & Light” trail running footwear ethos. 13 years later, Salomon has brought the Speedcross 3 back for a second life — this time as part of its lifestyle-focused Salomon Sportstyle arm — in half a dozen colorways, most notably its original “Sulphur” makeup.
Dressed in a vivid yellow and red color scheme with hits of black and white, a multi-color tongue tag and an ombre fade effect on its midsole detailing, the “Sulphur” demands attention from all angles. It doesn’t show and not tell, however, as it’s also equipped with still-potent tech like an LT cushioning setup, M&S Contagrip outsoles, and, of course, Salomon’s signature Quicklace system. Though the “Sulphur” is the focal point of this bringback, it’s one of a half-dozen colorways released as part of Salomon Sportstyle’s SS24 line. Joining it are a HIDDEN.NY-esque mixture of cream, brown and green, a peachy orange, lilac and white/black colorway and a trio of monochromatic black/silver, all black and black/white styles.
Though this release marks the official return of the Speedcross 3, the “Sulfur” colorway has been teased for weeks. The rollout began with a teaser and seeding initiative during Salomon’s New York Fashion Week presentation at USM, and reggaetón superstar Feid spotlighted it prominently during the campaign around his announcement as a Salomon Sportstyle ambassador.
If any of the six colorways catch your eye, they’re all available via the Salomon webstore now, priced at $140 USD.
