Ronnie Fieg and ASICS have worked in harmony for over a decade, producing one sought-after sneaker after another. For the duo’s latest work, they have again reworked the GEL-LYTE III, applying special materials to its street-ready build. While much of the recent focus from sneakerheads has been on ASICS’ modern runners like the GEL-KAYANO 14, the classic GEL-LYTE series is offered another chance to shine with this project.
Crafted in celebration of the opening of KITH’s new Seoul flagship location, it draws inspiration from South Korea’s flag with its inclusion of red and blue throughout. Its upper’s material composition sees a blend of pigskin suede and hairy suede utilized with a quilted base. Off-white covers a majority of its base while black hits the toe, a sky blue graces the midfoot and lining and red adorns the GEL-LYTE III-branded heel counter. From there, a soft gray appears at the shoe’s signature stripes at each side as off-white and taupe round things out at the midsole and outsole respectively.
Release for Ronnie Fieg’s KITH x ASICS GEL-LYTE III “Seoul” is set to go down on May 31 via KITH Seoul, KITH Tokyo and the KITH website.
