Rick Owens and Dr. Martens have established themselves as an unstoppable duo in the past few years. Leaning on the avant-garde designer to reinvent classic Dr. Martens silhouettes, the partners have struck a precise balance of familiarity and freshness. Last month, the two kicked off their latest architectural collection with the 1460 DMXL Megalace boot. Now, two additional designs that utilize Dr. Martens new DMXL sole have been crafted.
First up, the 1460 Jumbo Lace boot is backed by the aforementioned DMXL sole in black with Dr. Martens’ instantly-recognizable yellow contrast stitching across the midsole. As for the black leather upper, the 1460’s shape has been exaggerated with a raised tongue and extra-thick wraparound laces in Owens’ signature “Pearl” hue. A sizable side-zip has been applied to the lateral as well, offering easy access to the boot’s interior. Accompanying the design is the even taller 1918 boot. Equipped with 18 eyelets, it towers over your typical boot with a black leather finish and is supported by the same black and yellow DMXL sole unit. Silver eyelets complement the long lateral side-zip while oversized “Pearl” laces are designed to wrap around the boot.
For those interested in picking up either pair, the Rick Owens x Dr. Martens 1460 Jumbo Lace boot and 1918 boot are both scheduled to release on March 7 via Rick Owens, Dr. Martens and select retailers such as HBX.
