New Balance‘s made-in-the-UK 991v2 silhouette hasn’t even been on the market for a full year yet, but it’s already rocketed to prominence thanks to collaborations with the likes of Stone Island, Patta and Daniëlle Cathari as well as clean in-line colorways like “Brown” and “Brandied Apricot.” Now, New Balance is saluting the global love that the shoe — an updated iteration of the 991 — has received with a five-shoe “City Edition” pack.
Each shoe in the pack is exclusive to a specific region and launching in partnership with one of that region’s foremost boutiques. The blue colorway is dropping in the USA with an assist from Social Status, yellow in the greater Asia-Pacific region via Casestudy and UP THERE, green in France through Starcow, pink in Japan with a boost from atmos and, last but not least, red in China through New Balance’s own NB Grey concept store. Apart from their colorful pig suede uppers, all five pairs follow a uniform build with hits of black and grey covering the remainder of their uppers as well as a two-tone black and grey midsole that boasts a full-length FuelCell footbed surrounded by a durable ENCAP rim.
Boutique-exclusive releases will be ongoing throughout August, with the green pair leading on August 10, the pink pair arriving August 14, the blue pair August 17, the red pair August 21 and the yellow pair August 28. Though an MSRP has yet to be officially revealed, standard 991v2 colorways retail for $250 USD, so it’s reasonable to assume this collection’s styles should be at or around that price point.
