Inspired by retro silhouettes from famous footballers and boxers of the 1980s, Miista is back with its all-new sneaker design. Called the Nikoletta, the shoe reimagines vintage performance gear with a fashionable modern lens.
Initially founded in a Studio in Bethnal Green in 2011, Miista believes that sneaker innovation doesn’t have to be limited to cutting-edge technology and advanced machinery. Instead, the brand aims to combine these factors while still emphasizing small-scale skilled craftsmanship of high quality materials.
“The ‘you’re not there yet’ speech in this industry drives us to keep trying and experimenting,” said creative director Laura Villasenin. “We committed to never arriving. This commitment gives us the freedom to perfect our craft.”
Low-profile and subtly designed, the newly released Nikoletta is the perfect sporty addition to any wardrobe. The fold-over tongue and rubber outsole are reminiscent of retro wrestling shoes. The body, which is made entirely from goat leather, features contrast leather side paneling and is available in monotone black, brown/navy, and black/white colorways.
The Nikoletta sneaker retails for $415 USD. You can snag a pair online or at Miista’s New York flagship location. Check out the shoes in the gallery above, and stay tuned to Hypebeast for more updates.
