PUMA and Fast & Furious are merging high-octane cinema with court-ready performance, officially unveiling a collaboration that turns street racers into hardwood footwear. The collaboration focuses on clear visual storytelling, utilizing PUMA’s signature silhouettes – including the MB.05, LaFrancé RNR and LaFrancé – to honor the early heroes of the blockbuster. By tapping into the specific car culture that defined the early 2000s, PUMA positions its signature line at the intersection of motorsport nostalgia and modern basketball technology.
The drop features two distinct colorways of the MB.05, each serving as a direct translation of a specific vehicle from the saga’s lore. The first iteration mirrors Brian O’Conner’s iconic orange Toyota Supra, capturing the aggressive energy of the original film. LaMelo’s signature “Not From Here” scratch marks and flame overlays are reinterpreted in neon yellow and metallic silver, serving as a direct reference to the film’s Nuclear Gladiator side decal. Grounding the design is a tonal orange midsole that maintains the monochrome intensity, ensuring the sneaker stands out on the hardwood.
The second MB.05 adopts the vibrant pink palette of Suki’s custom Honda S2000. PUMA transfers this aesthetic by converting automotive paint schemes onto the MB.05’s upper, utilizing layered textures and sharp graphics to replicate the look. The delicate white and light pink line work stretching across the vamp and quarter panels references the anime-inspired airbrush art from the film car’s livery.
Departing from the performance models, the LaFrancé RNR embodies the raw aggression of American muscle. The silhouette is encased in glossy black patent leather, mirroring the menacing bodywork of Dom Toretto’s 1970 Dodge Charger. The chunky, oversized tooling is accented by reflective silver piping, while distinct red accents nod to the vehicle’s exposed blower intake butterflies. It is a hulking, lifestyle-focused interpretation of pure horsepower.
Rounding out the collection is a motorsport-focused take on the LaFrance silhouette, paying homage to the Nissan Skyline GT-R. It features silver and blue racing stripes across the upper to mimic the R34’s iconic livery, effectively bridging the gap between the collection’s performance basketball models and its off-court lifestyle appeal.
The Fast & Furious x PUMA pack is confirmed for release on February 12. Fans can look for both colorways to arrive via the PUMA webstore and select retailers.
