Next year marks the 40th anniversary of the Air Jordan 1, which is due to result in an even larger wave of releases than we’ve grown accustomed to. Rumors regarding the shoe’s 2025 plans have touched on everything from an Air Jordan 1 Hi ’85 “Bred” to a Swarovski collaboration and “UNC Reimagined” colorway.
Now, the latest update involving the shoe comes from SoleSavy, which has just reported that 2015’s hit “Shattered Backboard” look (pictured above) will be making a return next year. Inspired by Jordan’s backboard-breaking dunk from 1985, the “Black,” “Starfish” and “Sail” color composition has been remixed many times since — most recently appearing on the Nike BOOK 1 as a PE. Commemorating not only the AJ1’s 40th anniversary, but the 10th anniversary of the “Shattered Backboard” release, the re-release is expected to stay true to its original detailing, including an all-leather upper.
At the time of writing, Jordan Brand has not confirmed whether or not the “Shattered Backboard” rendition of the Air Jordan 1 High OG will be returning. Stay tuned for updates, including a first look at the 2025 version of the colorway, as it’s currently expected to release via Nike SNKRS and select retailers at some point during 2025 around the $180 USD price point.
