Tyler, the Creator’s GOLF le FLEUR* label and Converse are no strangers to the Chuck Taylor All-Star or Chuck 70 — they’ve been collaborating on it since 2018, after all. Now, however, they’re drawing from Tyler’s love of dogs, specifically Airedale Terriers for a new five-shoe collection.
It’s all in the details for Tyler’s latest take on the Chuck: extra thick laces, aged white midsoles, and a hidden illustration of Tyler in his signature bellhop suit on the bottoms. Darryl, the Airedale Terrier that’s become central to recent le FLEUR* iconography, appears in a vintage duo-tone graphic that subtly peaks from the outsoles onto the heel. Uppers are made of Converse’s traditional canvas in five new colors including Dachshund (light brown), Lemon Meringue (butter yellow), Margarita (pistachio green), Milky Blue, and Orchid Petal (lavender). The powdery hues are both elegant and retro, evoking a nostalgic summer day –– very much in the spirit of the le FLEUR* line and Tyler’s artistic vision. With that said, it’s also easy to imagine the pair across any season given its minimalistic design choices.
Compared with recent Converse x GOLF le FLEUR* drops, the Chuck 70 Darryl leans more heavily into the prep dimension of the brand’s aesthetic. In contrast to this, pairs released just this year came in loudly colored pixelated camouflage and translucent soles. The new model shares a vintage, yet simple sensibility with the Converse x GOLF le FLEUR* GLF 2.0 model, released in 2022.
The first drop of the Converse x GOLF le FLEUR* Darryl Chuck 70 will be available at both Converse and GOLF le FLEUR* web stores on September 26. In the lead-up to the 2024 Camp Flog Gnaw music festival, five more colorways will be released in November.
