New Balance always had history and an attention to craftsmanship on its side. But when Aimé Leon Dore frontman Teddy Santis took over in 2021, the American sportswear label took a major refresh that has since catapulted its shoes amongst some of the most sought-after styles on the market, rivaling that of heavyweight players in Nike and adidas.
There have been a suite of rotating collaborative efforts in that span, including recent partnerships with JJJJound and AURALEE, but Santis has dipped one of the label’s flagship models, the 990v4, in a timeless “Grey/Black” palette that plays in line with NB’s unofficial colorway.
Released under his fourth MADE in USA capsule, the latest 990v4 features a grey pig suede upper, complemented by off-white accents and hits of jet black throughout. Additional highlights include 990 branding on the tongue label and heel counter, as well as an ENCAP midsole with EVA cushioning and an NDurance rubber outsole to complete the shoe.
The New Balance 990v4 “Grey/Black” will release on February 8 for $210 USD online and at select retailers.
