The 2024 WNBA season kicks off tomorrow with the Washington Mystics facing off against Sabrina Ionescu and the New York Liberty. For Ionescu, this marks her fifth year in the league after being selected first by the Liberty in the 2020 WNBA Draft. While the Liberty ultimately lost in the WNBA Finals last year, they’re poised to make another deep run in 2024. At the same time, Ionescu, who introduced the Nike Sabrina 1 — her first signature shoe — last July, is preparing to launch her second design with the Nike Sabrina 2.
In anticipation of the new season’s start, a first look at the Sabrina 2 has finally appeared. Showcased in the Instagram post embedded below, the new design seems to draw inspiration from the Nike Kobe 5 with its slick, low-cut build. Arriving first with a purple and black color arrangement, an overlay at the lateral reaches from the forefoot of the midsole to the collar while a layer of mesh exists beneath it. Ionescu’s “S” logo returns to the tongue while the sneaker’s sole unit is split into segments.
At the time of writing, neither Sabrina Ionescu nor Nike Basketball have shared any details regarding the release of the Nike Sabrina 2. Stay tuned for updates, including a closer look at the new design, as we currently expect the sneaker to land on shelves this summer via Nike SNKRS and select retailers around the $130 USD price point.
