Rei Kawakubo’s COMME des GARÇONS has grown into quite the conglomerate over the years, with various diffusion lines offering a unique perspective on the acclaimed designer’s visual language. Beyond its own in-line works, CDG brands are known for collaborating with a broad range of brands, from fellow Japanese labels like BAPE to beloved franchises such as Star Wars. This weekend, Tokyo will be treated to a limited-time shop named Black and Pink MARKET MARKET, which will feature items from BLACK COMME des GARÇONS, COMME des GARÇONS GIRL, CDG, PLAY COMME des GARÇONS, and THE BEATLES COMME des GARÇONS at special prices.
In addition to the playful apparel, two sneaker collaborations will be debuting. First up, COMME des GARÇONS GIRL has tapped Mizuno for a unique pair of sneakers that sees various ornaments and charms adorn the white leather upper. Nike is also participating as BLACK COMME des GARÇONS’ take on the Field General 82 will be made available. Having returned as a GR earlier this year, the retro American football shoe appears in black with white “MARKET” text repeated throughout the sneaker.
For those interested in the BLACK COMME des GARÇONS x Nike Field General 82 or the COMME des GARÇONS GIRL x Mizuno sneakers, both pairs are set to drop via the Black and Pink MARKET MARKET at Harajuku Hakkakukan, which opens in Tokyo on November 2 and closes on November 14. Stay tuned for any info pertaining to a wider release of the kicks.
