ASICS and Bangkok-based streetwear powerhouse Carnival are teaming up yet again, this time in the form of a GT-2160 dubbed the “Concrete Bloom.”
While past collaborations between the brands have tapped into Muay Thai culture, this latest silhouette highlights the intricacies and challenges of urban life, showcasing themes that can be found throughout the city of Bangkok. The design blends various gray tones with metallic green accents and subtle pops of orange.
Carnival expressed that the shoe is designed to symbolize the spirit of people who thrive in tough environments — “much like the beauty of flowers that manage to bloom through concrete.” Other notable design elements include “Carnival” co-branding at the lateral heel of the shoe, an off-white colored midsole and silver metallic accents throughout.
As for comfort, the shoe features ASICS’ renowned GEL cushioning and TRUSSTIC support system, for all-day comfort and stability. At the time of writing, retail pricing has not yet been revealed, however, the shoe is expected to drop in early September, with a raffle opportunity set to open on August 29 via Carnival’s official app.
