Jordan Brand is pulling out all the stops for the Air Jordan 1‘s 40th anniversary in 2025: after news of the Air Jordan 1 Hi ’85 “Bred” surfaced in recent weeks, it’s now being rumored that it’ll be joined by a flipped take on the OG Air Jordan 1 “Shadow” — namely the Air Jordan 1 Hi ’85 “Reverse Shadow.”
There are no current images of the forthcoming “Reverse Shadow” release (the photo at the top of this article is a color-flipped mockup), but going off of Jordan Brand’s history and past drops with similar titles it’s not hard to hypothesize. Its “Medium Grey/Black/Muslin” color scheme indicates that it may be similar in nature to 2021’s Air Jordan 1 “Shadow 2.0,” which used grey suede accents on its overlays instead of relegating them to leather iterations on the toebox, collar and heel like the OG pair. However, since this is a Hi ’85 instead of the High OG build used on the past release, its overall cut and shape should be closer to that of the original. In an interesting bit of sneaker history, there’s also an ultra-rare flipped AJ 1 “Shadow” sample from 1985, shown in the photos below, that never released and could serve as inspiration for this drop.
An exact date of arrival has yet to be announced, but the Air Jordan 1 Hi ’85 “Reverse Shadow” will likely be touching down as part of Jordan Brand’s summer 2025 collection and will retail at $200 USD.
