Aimé Leon Dore released its ready-for-the-Greek-islands Summer 2024 collection today, and a key piece of that offering is a collaboration with New Balance: two new colorways of the T500, a retro tennis sneaker originally debuted in 1982. Featuring the same off-white leather base as the two’s previous collaboration for ALD’s Fall 2023 line but adding new grey or navy accents, the fresh release serves as a subtle expansion of the duo’s collaborative lexicon.
As is the case with many Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance collabs, the devil is well and truly in the details. Midfoot N logos, heel tabs and tongue tags are the key pieces of each style, dressed in primary accent colors and, in the case of the first two details, made from luxurious leather with a snakeskin-like pattern. An Aimé Leon Dore text logo in New Balance font replaces the standard NB branding on the left shoe’s heel, and the fabric tongue tag replicates the other two pieces’ snakeskin styling with a printed graphic of its own. A finishing touch is supplied by a slight base color variation between the upper and the midsole, which supplies an “aged” effect.
Both colorways of the Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance T500 are available in select sizes via the Aimé Leon Dore website. The MSRP for each pair is set at $130 USD.
