It has been eight years since Fox News host Laura Ingraham dismissed the NBA superstar as a “dumb jock,” advising him to “shut up and dribble.” Now, circling back to the “More Than An Athlete” campaign launched after the 2018 controversy, Nike and James are turning the soundbite into a statement with the upcoming Nike LeBron 23 “Shut Up And Dribble”
Arriving in a mostly grey palette, the upper adopts an industrial aesthetic, utilizing a textured construction with a steel grate pattern across the crown. The center of the design lives on the heel, featuring the statement “Still Talking” — with specific letters crossed out to reveal the hidden message: “Still King.”
Underfoot, semi-translucent blue outsoles ground the design, offering an icy counterpoint to the upper’s industrial grit. Beyond the commentary, the colorway reportedly nods to LeBron’s 2018 All-Star MVP performance, when he dominated the court in a black-and-white jersey.
