Tom Sachs saw his NikeCraft partnership with Nike suspended last year after reports of inappropriate studio behavior surfaced. This interrupted many of the duo’s upcoming footwear plans, including the release of a new Mars Yard 3.0 sneaker. However, after Sachs “demonstrated and recommitted to fostering a culture of respect and inclusivity,” Nike announced that it would be teaming up with the artist to introduce the Mars Yard 3.0 in 2025.

While we’ve yet to step into 2025, an early look at a wear-test sample of the sequel has emerged. It dons the typical all-black finish that wear-tests are prepared in while lacking any branding elements. As with 2017’s Mars Yard 2.0, much of the sneaker remains the same. However, based on this single-image preview, there are several adjustments worth noting. The toe cap has been slightly raised with a new layer of reinforcement while the lacing system lacks its predecessors’ lowermost level.

Keep in mind that none of these changes are final and look out for more previews of the forthcoming project to surface in the months to come. Stay tuned for updates as Tom Sachs and Nike ready the Mars Yard 3.0 for a 2025 release.
