Utilitarianism is at the core of FreshService — a brand known for its elevated staples and based on the theme of a “virtual delivery company” — and it’s decidedly on display across FreshService’s first collaboration with Merrell, a fresh iteration of the Moab Speed 2 GORE-TEX. Equal parts rugged backcountry hiker and street-ready city stomper, the FreshService x Merrell Moab Speed 2 GORE-TEX boasts a crisp color scheme, minimal branding and plenty of technical details.

Airy white tones take up the vast majority of the shoe’s real estate, with contrast provided by black details on the heel, toebox throat and outsole. The finishing ingredient to the color scheme? A punch of tangy flair provided by volt-toned tongue tabs and eyestays. The only indication that the sneaker is a co-created effort arrives on the insole, which offers both FreshService and Merrell branding stamped on its heel.

The collaboration boasts a laundry list of technical details as well, with its synthetic, mesh and suede upper cocooned around a fully waterproof GORE-TEX membrane. Midsoles use Merrell’s proprietary FloatPro foam and a midfoot FlexPlate for extra support, while a custom-built Vibram TC5+ outsole promises elite traction.

Expect the FreshService x Merrell Moab Speed 2 GORE-TEX to be released via the FreshService webstore on September 21. Its MSRP is set at ¥26,400 JPY (approximately $185 USD).
