After putting out a line of purposefully stained underwear under his luxury sub-label “Dirty Willy Underwear,” Willy Chavarria has returned with another original, imaginative creation. The designer has unveiled his first-ever shoe, produced in partnership with American shoemaker Allen Edmonds.
The Jalisco is an elevated take on the dressy Derby, a type of Oxford constructed out of open-laced leather panels. A subtle split toe adds a unique design flourish to the shoe, accentuated by the addition of a Cuban heel.
Imagining The Jalisco as the new “unformal” shoe, the Derby also bears his trademark “WC” initials in a subtle gold foil.
“I have always admired Allen Edmonds for their quality and craftsmanship but was truly blown away by what the artisans in Port Washington are capable of crafting,” Chavarria said. “I had no idea a luxury shoe of this caliber could be made here at home.”
On September 6, The Jalisco will make its debut during Willy Chavarria’s Spring 2025 runway show during New York Fashion Week. The shoe will be available for purchase online and at Allen Edmonds retailers next year.
