It’s finally time for this year’s Olympic Games in Paris and a 39-year-old LeBron James is gunning for his third gold medal with Team USA. The squad just completed its slew of showcase games, edging out the competition to win all five matches. Now, they are set to take this stage this Sunday in their Olympic debut against Nikola Jokić and Team Serbia.
In anticipation of the match, King James stepped out to practice with a new pair of kicks, the Nike LeBron 22 — his upcoming signature shoe with the Swoosh. Previously teased by James last month, we now have our best look at the design yet. Appearing in a “USA” PE that features a red, white and blue color composition, the low-top sneaker features several key elements. For starters, its lateral Swoosh isn’t a proper Swoosh, rather, the shape is created by cutting the leather overlay to indicate the shape as the raised midsole helps define its signature curvature. Callouts to James are served via the raised embroidery of his signature at the heel, as well as the medial’s crown motif.
At the time of writing, neither LeBron James nor Nike Basketball have shared when the LeBron 22 will be releasing and if this “USA” colorway will ever be made available to the public. Stay tuned as we expect his new signature shoe to arrive this September via Nike SNKRS and select retailers around the $200 USD price point.
