Nike is re-releasing a classic silhouette for this spring. The Nike Cortez first launched in 1972 and returned in 2022 for its 50th anniversary. One of the most sought-after colorways, the “Forrest Gump,” was first released in 2018 and is now slated to return for 2024.
Inspired by Tom Hanks‘s 1994 hit film where his character receives the OG Cortez as a gift from Robin Wright’s Jenny Curran before embarking on his famous run. The shoe features a timeless, crisp white leather base featuring hints of varsity red, varsity blue and metallic silver. The red accents hit the tongue branding, heel overlay and Swoosh while the blue strip is on the midsole. The white Nike branding is seen on the heel and the silver lace dubraes complement heel. The look is rounded off with a waffle rubber outsole.
The Nike Cortez “Forrest Gump” re-releases on May 1, 2024 at select retailers and online at Nike for $110 USD.
