Following its extra-large Suede collaboration with PLEASURES earlier this month, PUMA has brought its freshly pumped-up kicks into its mainline collection. Dubbed the “Suede XL,” the remixed sneaker features exaggerated proportions inspired by signature skating footwear in the ’90s and early 2000s.
Here, the storied Suede silhouette (which originally launched in 1968 and earned notoriety for its ties to graffiti writers and B-boy crews who were fond of the shoe) becomes big. With substantial cushioning, the Suede XL boasts a cloud-like construction that’s complete with a padded tongue and Formstrip. Additionally, traditional laces are swapped out for ultra-wide versions to really drive the point home.
“From the Olympic podium to the dancefloor, the Suede has seen it all,” PUMA wrote in a press release. Now, the decades-spanning footwear favorite will see the world from a larger point-of-view — in colorways that include pink, brown, green and blue.
The PUMA Suede XL will release on Thursday, February 1, via PUMA’s wesbtore and mobile app, as well as in the PUMA NYC flagship store. The shoe will be available in women’s and men’s sizes for $85 USD, and it will also be made for kids, with prices ranging from $55 USD to $65 USD. Take a look at the design in the gallery above.
