Jordan Brand is reportedly reviving a monumental piece of its mid-2000s catalog, with the Air Jordan 4 “Black Laser” slated to return in February 2027. According to SneakerFiles/zsneakerheadz, the upcoming release will mark the first time the specific colorway has hit retail since its original, highly coveted drop over two decades ago.

The 2027 retro is expected to stay faithful to the original construction. The silhouette will feature a stealthy black leather base completely covered in the signature detailed graphics. Delivering strict contrast, bold red accents will hit the Jumpman branding, inner lining, and the backside of the tongue. The design is then grounded by subtle grey hits across the heel panel and portions of the midsole.

For those deeply entrenched in sneaker history, the “Laser” series represents a pivotal era of experimentation. Originally debuted in August 2005 alongside its “White Laser” counterpart, the design language arrived during the 20th-anniversary celebration of the Air Jordan lineage. During this time, Jordan Brand began actively leaning into lifestyle-focused storytelling, utilizing intricate, all-over laser etching to map out the visual history of Michael Jordan‘s career across the leather upper. While the brand has revisited the laser concept sparingly in the years since — most notably with the 2015 “White/Chrome” and 2019 “Black/White-Gum” iterations — the return of the exact 2005 black and red color-blocking is a major pull for archival collectors.

Stay tuned for official confirmation and imagery in the coming months.
