Designer Canyaon is an upcycling whiz — known for everything from making a pair of sneakers out of 20 recycled caps to taking MSCHF‘s Super Normal silhouette and adding plastic “boulders” to it to create a “climbing” sneaker. Now, however, he’s crafted what might be his most viral creation yet: the “Toes Slippers,” a YEEZY Slide that’s been altered to look like an enormous big toe.
With a full-color “toenail” built over the slide’s standard front opening, the shoes provide a bulky and bulbous look that’s staggeringly large and cartoonish. It’s so super-sized, in fact, that it almost toys with the grotesque in a way, an evolution (or mutation, if you’d prefer) of a design like Gaetano Pesce‘s famed Il Piede, or even Imran Potato‘s Caveman Slippers.
Want a pair, well … for the toe? The “Toes Slippers” are a design concept, and there’s currently no word on if Canyaon plans to produce and release them. However, if you can bear a less outlandish style of mule, there are plenty of good summertime options, from Nike‘s controversial Clogposite to the recently-revealed backless Beatnik crafted by NEEDLES and Reebok.
